Copernicus for Forestry
The Copernicus for Forestry hybrid workshop aims to bridge the EU forest strategy for 2030 and the use of Earth Observation, specifically Copernicus, infrastructure, data and services to support this initiative. This hybrid workshop will be held in Brussels on March 12th 2024, and online.
One of the main actions of the European Green Deal is the EU forest strategy for 2030, which builds on the EU biodiversity strategy for 2030. The aim of the EU forest strategy is to improve the quantity and quality of EU forests, to strengthen forest protection, restoration and resilience. Forest monitoring to both prevent deforestation and wildfires has been proposed and adopted.
This workshop aims to highlight the role of Copernicus data in the context of the EU forest policy. Some objectives of the event include reviewing current forest regulations and monitoring, to analyse the capabilities of Copernicus for this domain or to examine future and potential EO development.
Attendees can expect speakers and attendees from EU Policy DGs and agencies, EU and non-EU National Public Authorities, Copernicus Entrusted Entities, Research community or the Private sector.
